Project Description

Inspexa was commissioned by Pick ‘N’ Eat to undertake an electrical survey and BS7671-compliance check within their new KFC outlet located in the Phoenix Commercial Centre. KFC is one of the most popular outlets in the Commercial Centre, and the health and safety of staff and customers is one of their prior concerns.

The project required the inspection of the electrical installations to check whether they were safe and standard-compliant for the very heavy service levels at the Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet. We were asked to conduct relevant electrical tests, including RCD (residual current device) trip tests, insulation tests, an earth loop test and a visual inspection of the whole installation.

Our team of engineers started after the outlet closed for the day, completed all the visual inspections, including within the ceiling void, and performed all functional tests until early morning, so that the outlet’s opening hours were not affected.

All issues were reported to the client, along with proposed solutions and an action plan to enable the installations to comply with BS 7671 in the fastest and cheapest way. The contractor worked accordingly and we completed the work with a final series of tests and inspections to ensure that the KFC outlet was safe for both workers and customers.

The way Inspexa and our parent company, Prodesign, work is designed to cause minimum disruption during working hours and to ensure that works run to schedule. It is something for which we have established a strong reputation and this case proved yet again our ability to deliver on our commitments.
