Safety periodic inspections
” All electrical installations deteriorate with age and use. They should therefore be inspected and tested at regular intervals to check whether they are in a satisfactory condition for continued use. Such safety checks are commonly referred to as “periodic inspection and testing”
The statutory requirements for health and safety at work are covered by the Occupational Safety and Health (Electricity at Work) Regulations 2009 and it provides the basic statutory framework for electrical safety in the workplace. It requires that, inter alia, all electrical installations be kept in a safe condition so as to prevent danger.
Serious injury can occur when live electrical parts are exposed and can be touched, or when metalwork, supposedly earthed, becomes live at a dangerous voltage. Very often these risks are due to poor electrical installations or deterioration over time. These risks can be minimized by regular inspection and testing of installations.
We provide comprehensive periodic inspections and testing of electrical installations in line with International Standards, to ensure safe working conditions and compliance with regulations. A periodic inspection of an electrical installation is necessary and the interval depends on the type of building. Hotels for example requires a periodic inspection every 5 years.
We audit installations for safety, testing wiring and equipment to BS 7671, including RCD, insulation, polarity and earth loop tests, and produce recommendations for upgrading and compliance with regulations. We can also design, procure and supervise remedial works required.

Thermal Diagnostic Imaging
We use infra-red camera to detect hot spots in electrical distribution boards and cable terminations and avoid serious electrical hazards which could lead to injury, plant downtime and worse, a fire. Infra-red camera surveys detect potential problems which are not detectable by visual inspections. It also allows inspections to be carried out safely without any plant shutdown.
Our electrical surveys using infra-red cameras have helped several clients identify abnormal temperature in their main distribution boards and the exact cause of it and to take remedial actions before it went hazardous. Our electrical inspectors have been trained to manipulate infra-red cameras and to correctly interpret the thermography to provide reliable solutions to our clients.

Compliance checks
We assist clients by checking their new installations and assess compliance with standards and regulations. Very often clients contract with design and build contractors and would like an independent third party validation of the works with respect to the contract scope and specifications. We step in to verify the completed works against the brief and contract and advise clients on final accounts settlement.
